Savage!

Took my hunter out tonight to try and level her. I'm in Jade Forest and I remember that I should look for some tracks.... just in case.

So, I'm running around and >>>gasp<<< there's a Bloody Track! I got all excited and followed it. Another one! I followed them all the way to the waterfall, shooting off flares each time I thought I found the last track. No tiger.

Wait, what's this? Two tracks at the start of the patrol, one facing each direction. Fucker! He turned around. I followed his ENTIRE path, all the way down and around, through the scary elite Bamboo pythons and everything. Got to the end and no tiger . . . . I was crushed. Honestly crushed. This is the game I play. I don't raid, I don't run 5 mans. I hunt rares!

It took me almost two hours for all that action above . . . I went back to the waterfall. My husband says, "Maybe he's like a lost kid. Just wait here for him to return." Hmmm... maybe Husband was on to something.

So I sat. And I waited. And I waited. About 45 minutes later, I excitedly saw the Bloody Tracks heading for me. I fired off a flare to a point about three tracks away from where I stood. No tiger.

What. The HELL? And then, there he was! He walked through the flare radius, popped out of stealth and spun around. I tagged him with a Hunter's Mark and cast Tame Beast. He ran towards me, blue eyes blazing. Come to mama, you pretty boy.

As I stood gazing lovingly at him, I noticed his path behind him begin to fade off. For what it's worth, each "Bloody Tracks" were visible for about 5 minutes and the paw prints are backwards when he walks.

I had been camping (rare) Sarnak for about three hours, killing him three times. On the third kill, he dropped the crossbow.

NPC Scan, Why You No Work Same?

I've been using NPC Scan to hunt rares for years. I am used to it sounding off when a rare is found, then when I click the icon it produces on my screen, a green triangle shows up on the rare itself AND marks where the rare is on my mini map.

This is not happening for me in MoP. Why? Has a setting changed? Has the add on itself changed?

Thankfully, I found this amazing post complete with maps for all zones showing where the rares hide.

Play Misty For Me

I was already on line as soon as Mists went live, my hunter staked out on an Aeonaxx spawn point, my mage on a TLPD spawn point and my rogue on a "mysterious camel figurine" spawn point.
I  cycled around through the three of them, hoping to get lucky but to no avail.

I eventually moved the hunter to go learn Pet Battle and moved the mage to go collect flowers in Outland to help level up her younger sister.

We thought of trying a new 5 man but my gear was too low. So . . . off to Jade Forest with the hunter.

Members of the guild excitedly chatted about the rares they were finding while I wallowed in my low gear . . .  after a few quests, I had a high enough level to attempt a 5 man. Temple of the Jade Serpent was the chosen one.

The guild was very nice even after repeated wipes. I do not possess the ability to see as others see and when bad shit appears on the floor, I usually don't see it until I realize I am almost dead. Just not enough contrast in colors for me to recognize it.

Then there was the sprinkler boss... I didn't see his water jet hitting me until I was almost dead. Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong that was causing me to fly backwards. Until my husband mentioned the jet of water. . . . after struggling to see it I was able to avoid it.

We wiped maybe half a dozen times. I accept full blame. None of this means I suck, it just means I'm pretty darn color blind.

Oh, and always assume doors will close, even when you don't see doors until they slam shut in front of you.

This is why I camp rares. That's the part I understand. That's the part I'm good at.

Good thing it was summertime because this little blood elf has to completely strip down to her little red panties in order to tame this wild beast!

Once you are completely unarmed and nearly naked, this is an easy tame. He'll smack you around a bit but you'll survive.

I was questing in the area and it was complete happenstance that Karkin was spotted! I used the same method as Skarr to tame the crab and renamed him Kilroy.

Once again, my awesome husband brought his warlock along to help me tame a rare. Skarr's trick is to interrupt him when he casts his fireball at you and then have a quick tame time before he can cast again :)

Deth'tilac - The big purple one! March 15, 2012

I had attempted to tame Deth several times and each time, some douche would come along and kill him while I was kiting him around.
Oh well, pixels on a screen - this is actually how I would up with so many of the other rares in the area! Some douche would kill the purple one and I'd just shrug and go camp something else.
My warlock husband used a demonic teleport and his voidwalker, Zag'Kath to kite this guy around.
I used Terrorpene to help tank as we whittled Deth's health down to about 11%. We stayed behind the wall and went in a big circle all around the area in the photo. Round and round for about 15 minutes . . . . finally, his "Molten Will" buff dropped off and he was ready to be tamed.
As the video shows, just as the tame finishes, I die, quickly resurrect via souldstone and admire my new pet :)

Solix - March 13, 2012

Solix was quick and easy to tame. He was hiding in the lava. When first encountered, Solix has two buffs on him:

• Flashfire: Attack Speed Increased by 1000% & Movement Speed Increased by 100%
• Blazing Speed: Too fast to Tame

I kited him around, forcing him to "cool off" each time he stepped through one of my frost traps and once his buffs dropped off, he was an easy tame

Ban'thalos Jan 31, 2012

Ban'thalos - a very fun tame, indeed! Oh man, I died (and died laughing) so many times before I got this one! I used my Horseman's Mount to land on the very tip of the top of the pine tree behind the Sanctuary of Malorne.
I had my warlock husband give me a health stone, dropped an ice trap, flew straight up, tagged Ban'thalos, fell straight down onto the tree top, used a health potion, he came down after me and got caught in the trap,
I watched my tame wind down and the red hearts swirl up... new pet :)

Ban'thalos was renamed Eran in honor of our Mealy Amazon, Eranikus (Eran) whom passed away during surgery November 2010.

Taming Deth'tilac

One of my favorite tames! It took several tries over several days to get this spider. There was always someone coming along and killing him during the process.

Then I discovered if I kept running in a circle behind that wall where he spawns, no one will see him and no one will kill him.

So, my warlock husband used some of his tricks and I used my Shelly (Terrorpene) to tank this guy and we ran him around in circles until his buff dropped and he was tamable.

The best part of this video is when I die right at the end, pop a soulstone and then see my husband come running towards me.

HI !!!! I'm BACK !!

It's been such a long time, so much has happened! My stable is packed to capacity with so many lovely rares.

I'll grab some screenshots and share my beauties with you.

I've changed servers and changed names (again). Some of my older screenshots and posts will show different names, different guilds, but it's all me.

Longer updates soon, for now, a quick little message to say that I'm back :)
